Artists have been compelled to paint and draw horses for centuries and it's easy to understand the fascination - the sheer size and heft of a horse is so visceral, so physical, that horses are a recurring metaphor for strength, power, freedom, stamina, speed, beauty, elegance and reliability, to name a few. Art seeks to catch lightning in a bottle, encapsulating a moment or a feeling through form and colour and it is endlessly challenging to convey the extraordinary charisma of a horse on paper or canvas, in wood or bronze... or cotton.

Lincolnshire illustrator and textiles designer Sophie Allport now treads a path that has been worn by artists of every hue from Gainsborough to Thelwell, bringing to the task a lightness of touch, a childlike innocence and a sense of love and wonder that is typical of all her work up until now.

This is an adult-size cooking apron for horse lovers cut to fit and flatter all shapes, with a sizeable pocket at the front.
